Right on! Sisters ARE doing it for themselves and everybody else. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's always been so. In any case, all of us are well aware of the current economic woes. And guess what, we're doin' it even more.
A few days ago, I heard a very interesting statistic on a radio newscast . Men actually have a higher unemployment rate in this current recession (depression for the unemployed) than women. Industuries that are typically male dominated have been harder hit, whereas fields dominated by women, caregivers, early education are suffering less. What does this tell us? It's very simple, Sisters. We've been holding down society's most indispensable positions all along? So why has our pay been substantially lower than the guy's? Could we start seeing a flood of guys flocking to traditional women's jobs? If so, will we see pay scales rise when men realize that health/human service jobs are indeed REAL work? Frankly I hope to see the day.
